Good health habits can go a long way in preventing flu. Nowadays, Filipinos are enticed to undergo flu immunization, but to many, immunization is quite expensive. There are ways to protect yourself from getting sick.
Practice these health habits.
1.Wash your hands frequently. Alcohol hand based cleaners are a fad. Make sure that you have one, most especially during instances wherein ordinary soap is not available. Antibacterial soaps add little protection, particularly against viruses. There’s not much of a difference between ordinary soap and antibacterial soap.
2. Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. By doing so, you prevent yourself from spreading unwanted virus to the people, who are with you.
3.Used tissues are not for display.Refrain from leaving them anywhere. Never touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread by your hands.
4. Refrain from sharing cups and other utensils. Doing so easily transfers virus to the mouth.
5.Stay home if sick. Rest is the best option when down with the flu. The body needs time to recuperate from a battle with the flu.
6.Don’t smoke. Smoking reduces the chances of recovering from a bout with flu. It weakens the lungs prolonging the agony of being sick with it.
Here are some of the things that you can do when with the flu.
1.Get plenty of rest.
2.Drink lots of fluids. Water to be exact. Hydrating yourself will help your body fight the infection.
3.Gargle with salt water to soothe a sore throat. To most of us, we are not comfortable gargling salty water. There are over the counter mouth washes that help soothe a sore throat.
4.Use a nebulizer to help you ease throat congesting and coughing. Practice maintenance habits on the humidifier to ensure that it isn’t contaminated.
5.Consult with your doctor.
